The Director of Information and Technology in the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD), Judith Beene, has urged Councils across the country to leverage their websites to market their districts investment portfolios to the world.

Speaking on Wdnesday, 4th December, 2025 at the Cyber Security and Website content Management training in Kabwe for local authorities Information and Technology (IT) Officers and Public Relations personnel, Mrs Beene emphasized that council websites must be well structured to effectively promote and attract investors .

She said that websites are professional platforms that citizens and potential investors, both at home and abroad, rely on for information about potential investment, tourism, and other vital services, emphasizing the need for councils to take website management seriously.

The five day Cyber Security and Website Management training aims to enhance digital skills among local authority officers and highlight investment opportunities through well managed council webpages.

The training has brought together IT and Public Relations Officers from Northern, Copperbelt and North- Western Provinces. Sessions are being held in provincial hubs to strengthen website security for councils.

The program is organized by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development through the Zambia Devolution Support Program, in collaboration with Smart Zambia, with funding support from World Bank.
