The Council in Luwingu District has successfully conducted an orientation training for the 74 newly elected Zonal Leaders as new Ward Development Committee (WDCs) office bearers for the thirteen wards in Luwingu District of Lubansenshi Constituency.
The new Ward Development Committee members (WDCs ) were trained in their various wards by a team of facilitators from the Council.
However ,elections in the three zones namely Chiponde ,Isandulula and Ipusukilo were later nullified after being petitioned by the interested parties . Subsequently, the Local Authority called for fresh elections in the named zones after carrying out some investigation and hearing.
Early this year , the Council embarked on the marathon program of sensitization and establishment of the Ward Development Committees ( WDCS) in the District after an expiration of office for the former office bearers which expired on 15th February 2024.
According to the Constitution ,the Ward Development Committee members are mandated to serve for a period of two and half years .
