COUNCIL AND MINISTRY OF HEALTH IN LUWINGU IMPOUNDS EXPIRED PRODUCTS IN KAMUMANGO MARKET

Assorted products costing over six thousand kwacha have been seized and destroyed by a joint team of Health Inspectors from the Local Authority and the Ministry of Health in Luwingu District for being expired.
The items were seized from various stores in one of Luwingu’s busiest markets known as Kamumango, after an impromptu inspection by a team of Health Inspectors .
This is in accordance with the Foods and Safety Act No 7 of 2019.
The impounded items which were found to be unwholesome and expired were, cooking oil, assorted snacks, wine, cereals, disposable drinks, body lotion among many other products.
We would like to appeal to the general public to take caution when buying products in various stores at Kamumango Market. Further more, we wish to encourage the general public to report any one suspected of selling expired products to the Public Health Office at the Civic Center.
